I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for chickadees.  One summer when we were at my in-laws’ cabin, we heard a “thump!” on the window and we walked outside.  Sure enough, it was a tiny chickadee who mistakenly thought he could fly through glass.  I gently picked him up and he sat in my hand.  He didn’t appear frightened at all.  He sat in my hand for several minutes, then decided to, shall we say, “unload some cargo” into my hand, then flew off.  Call me crazy, but I prayed for that little guy that night, hoping his concussion wouldn’t slow him down in the wild woods.  I hope these chickadees bring you some joy as you’re making this unique quilt that highlights the beautiful metallic fabrics.  And if you have it in your heart, pray for the little ones flying around the wild woods!
